James Stevens is a British artist known for his paintings of Formula 1 and motorsport. His work captures the speed, intensity, and teamwork that define the sport, often focusing on pit stops, drivers, and the moments that shape a race weekend.

Working primarily in oil, alongside acrylic, Stevens creates large-scale paintings recognised for their detail and sense of movement. Reflections in helmets, the texture of race suits, and the mechanical precision of a pit crew are recurring elements that give his work a strong sense of realism and energy.

Alongside real-life race moments, Stevens also creates concept-driven works that interpret the stories, atmosphere, and mythology surrounding Formula 1. Drawing inspiration from race locations, historic rivalries, and defining moments in the sport, these paintings combine realism with narrative to create deeper meaning within the work.

This balance between realism and storytelling has led to collaborations with leading names in motorsport, including McLaren and Aston Martin, as well as projects connected to international sporting events such as SailGP. In 2024, Stevens completed a four-day live painting at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, giving visitors a rare insight into the process behind his work.

Most recently, he was invited by McLaren to create a one-of-a-kind painting celebrating Lando Norris’s 2025 Formula 1 World Championship victory, which was unveiled at a special event in Dubai.

Stevens’ work has been acquired by private collectors and motorsport enthusiasts worldwide, reflecting a growing international following and his distinctive visual interpretation of Formula 1.
